About
The dirtbag designed STIFFDRAW was invented by me, a corporate dropout mechanical engineer with a lifelong fear of heights. While traveling and living out of various campers since 2009, my wife convinced me to take up rock climbing in 2018 at the age of 47.
Wanting to avoid leading, and to keep my short wife comfortable as my rope gun, I invented the STIFFDRAW. She fell in love with the very first prototype, dubbing it “The Savior”. Now, she never wants to lead an unknown route without one. After my DIY exposure therapy helped me overcome my fear of heights, I started leading too, and I feel the same way.
To refine the design, we started climbing with a harness full of STIFFDRAW prototypes. That opened our eyes to the benefit of having a STIFFDRAW on each side, especially when climbing new routes and pushing our limits. The increase in confidence was a game changer. Hence, the tagline:
STIFFDRAW. Reach higher. Climb harder.
